Ramona Fisher and Saturday Night Live Go Their Separate Ways

Breaking up is hard to do.

It was announced by NBC staff and Saturday Night Live Producer, Lorne Michaels, that Ramona Fisher will no longer be writing or acting for the long running late night sketch comedy show. Fisher, once chosen from a new york stand-up comedy competition, was one of the youngest people ever hired by SNL, and at one time was said to have the brightest future with the show. Her contract was not set to expire until the end of this season, but amid rumors that Fisher was drinking on the job, frequently missing meetings, and arguing with both Michaels and senior writer Seth Meyers, it was announced that she would not be finishing out said contract.

"It was a mutual decision." Michaels said to reporters on Monday morning in New York City. "Ramona is incredibly talented, and we wish her all the best of luck in her future." When asked if this had anything to do with Fisher's bad behavior, he declined to comment.

Ramona's reps deny that it has anything to do with her drinking. "Unfortunately, yes, she quit. It was time to move on. It's tough when you're on a show as long as she's been, and still not really getting featured. She was feeling very frustrated, and with some film offers that has come along, Ramona simply does not have the time to devote to the show." Her agent went on to inform us that Fisher is planning a new stand-up tour for 2009, writing her monthly column for Entertainment Weekly, and is set to have two movies released in 09, one in which she is acting, and one which she wrote. When asked about Fisher's recent brawl outside a Manhattan night club, and the rumors that her drinking has 'gotten out of hand', they did not comment.
